An abundance of things is not necessarily an indicator of the presence and favor of God. A lot of time we as Christians think that if an opportunity arises with a lot of ‘blessings’, that must mean God is in it. This could be true, but it could also not be the case. We have to discern between heavenly treasures and blessings vs. earthly treasures and blessing. Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness with earthly blessing, but in the end that would mean worshiping Satan instead of God. Remember Abundance of ‘Things’ Does NOT = Favor In your Christian walk, you will be tempted many times to go away from God’s plan to follow earthly treasures and riches. You may even convince yourself that this is the will of God for you because of all of the blessings. It must be God if I am being blessed right? It must be God if I am comfortable and have everything I want…right? Because of this, many people become easily deceived by riches, and don’t end up following the will of God for their lives at all. Don’t do this! Following God’s unique will for your life will likely include wilderness seasons where it is difficult, and your faith is stretched. Likewise, following God’s unique will could also mean an outpouring of blessings and abundance in the promised land. Therefore, it will look different for each believer. The importance is to follow His Will for your life and not your own. However it looks, your obedience will be worth it in the end. Stay encouraged today! |
