Single Christians are having sex. A lot of it. 😮
❤️ Need Your Love
Single Christians are having sex. A lot of it. Some studies report that over 80 percent of young adult, single Christians are engaged in some form of sexual activity. Society says, “Who can blame them?” Sex pervades every walk of life: movies, social gatherings, commercials, songs, you name it. And with the idea of no sex before marriage being blasted more and more—even by some church leaders—the commitment to sexual purity is quickly becoming a pledge of the past.
But Paztuh Mike disagrees.
He makes it plain in his single, Need Your Love, that saving yourself for marriage is not just biblical, it’s the best.
You got these haters saying this stupid stuff Like why you keep passing that booty up? Cause I’m looking for the bestYou can’t have that mess These busters think I’m trying to get some sex…
“Trust me, I get the struggle in waiting for the right one,” Paztuh Mike says. “I wrote Need Your Love out of frustration. I was frustrated in waiting, I was frustrated at the pressure of waiting as well.”
The Pressure
That pressure came directly from friends, he adds. While he practiced abstinence, they poked fun at him and called his newfound purity “crazy.” They eventually started asking, “What’s wrong with you?” and flat out telling him, “This is stupid.” He says the teasing made an already tough situation even tougher.
“The thing is, I didn’t stop being a man. I had to battle the same temptations they did. I had to battle the same feelings they did. Except they weren’t battling them. They had no boundaries, so there was no battle. But I was battling them.”
He remembers he faced the dilemma that every Christian has to overcome at some point: go along with what’s popular or stay true to God’s instruction. Even though the struggle was real, the ultimate choice was easy.
“I understood that giving into my fleshly desires and what we want as men wasn’t going to get me where I needed to go,” Paztuh Mike says. “That’s why I say in the song, ‘Whatever happened to growin’ old, loving somebody with your heart and soul?’ I wanted to get across to people that yeah, I was frustrated, but this is why I’m waiting. I’m waiting for my wife, not looking for a quick thrill.”
Know Your Worth
He admits the opportunities for quick thrills were often just a phone call away. But he chose a different path. Why? His reason seems simple on the surface, but dig a little deeper and it’s clear that his vow to remain abstinent was built on an unshakeable faith.
“I finally reached a point in my life where I realized my worth. And I was worth a lot. Too often, the message of ‘know your worth’ is directed at women. But it’s for everybody. When you seriously know your worth, you’re not going to give yourself to just anybody. There were a lot of hard times, but I wasn’t willing to give that much of myself to any woman who wasn’t my wife.”
Don’t Cheat On God
Paztuh Mike is passionate about telling people that when they give their bodies to one person after another, it’s more than just a physical act. They’re spreading a part of themselves to everyone they lie down with, which can have a negative effect both naturally and spiritually.
Many Christians agree with his stance when it comes to having multiple sexual partners. But they would argue that there’s nothing wrong with engaging in sexual activity if you’re in a committed, monogamous relationship. To that, Paztuh Mike has a direct message:
“Quit cheating on God. If any Christian, married or single, sleeps with someone who’s not their spouse, they’re cheating on God. The thing is, if we can stay faithful to God without a wife or husband, we’ll be able to stay faithful to them once we’re married. At the end of the day, it’s not about staying faithful to a spouse. It’s about staying faithful to God. You might be angry at that wife, you might be mad at that husband, even attracted to somebody else. But when it comes down to it, you know, ‘I can’t do this to the Lord.'”
An Answer to Prayer
When Paztuh Mike shot the music video for Need Your Love, he was still single and praying for God to bless him with a wife. Little did he know she was already in his midst and had been for years.
Anna Elisabeth and Paztuh Mike first met in 2011 at a street outreach hosted by his nonprofit, Men Standing Positive (MSP). Over time, as she got more involved in the ministry, she officially joined the MSP team and became an integral part of its daily operations. Their friendship remained strictly professional for three years before any conversation came up about a possible personal relationship.
“Anna was so committed to the ministry, she even served as a stand-in for a part in Need Your Love when our original person didn’t show. Here I was shooting a video about waiting for my wife, and she’s literally right beside me. It took some time for me to realize what God was up to, but I’m glad I trusted Him.”
