Down for the Count? Get Up With “Fighters’ Anthem”. Paztuh Mike first penned his upcoming release, Fighters’ Anthem, at a time when he had little more than a vision from God. He believed he would change many lives by meeting people’s spiritual and physical needs. But, based on his personal circumstances, that vision seemed like an impossibility.
A Real Fighter
“Everything that God promised I was called to be didn’t look like it was ever going to happen,” Paztuh Mike reflects. “I was staying in other people’s houses, I wasn’t working, I didn’t have a car. God wanted me to rely on Him for everything. I wrote Fighters’ Anthem out of some frustration, but a lot of ambition and encouragement was also coming out. The song was a way to encourage myself.”
His honest, unflinching lyrics give listeners a firsthand look at his hardships…and at his faith. One verse talks of walking in the rain thanking God for his blue jeans. “I wrote down what I was in,” Paztuh Mike explains. “I was literally having to walk in the rain, thanking God for my jeans because at least I had them to put on. No matter what, I wasn’t going to give in, I wasn’t going to quit.”
An Anthem of Hope
That message of hope is reinforced with heartfelt, gospel-inspired vocals sung by Kimberly Poe and bold beats created by D1 Beatz. Although his circumstances have changed, life has continued to have its share of ups and downs. But to this day, Fighters’ Anthem perfectly sums up Paztuh Mike’s determination to never stop moving forward with God. He hopes this song encourages others to do the same.
“People need to know what I say at the beginning of the track: ‘The devil is not gonna roll out a red carpet for you. You gotta go for it.’ No matter how many times you might get knocked down, you’re only a failure if you quit and don’t get back up. Keep fighting even when it doesn’t seem like you’re getting anywhere. Just keep fighting. Don’t ever give up.”
