Local Hip Hop Artist Calls Out Gangsta Rap in New Single

10/07/2020 by lastdayrecordsllc Fresh News, New Release

Local Hip Hop Artist Calls Out Gangsta Rap in New Single. Paztuh Mike new single, Dang It Feel Good, inspired by the Geto Boys hit from the early ‘90s, turns the tables on the lure of the gangsta life.

Dang It Feel Good features grimey beats with a definite street vibe. But just a few seconds in, it’s clear Paztuh Mike’s latest track isn’t glorifying violence. Just the opposite.

Dang it feel good not to have to be a gangsta, Dang it feel good
Dang it feel good

See what I realize about the game
Is everybody wanna slang that crack cocaine
It’s all about that money man
Everybody wanna stay the same
Ain’t nobody tryin’ to change…

The Beginning

From beginning to end, Paztuh Mike spits lyrics that take the glamour out of selling dope, chasing money, and hustling women. It’s a lifestyle he once knew firsthand. One he now warns young people to avoid completely.

“Whenever I speak to kids at schools, concerts, events, I let them know they’re much more than a gangsta,” he says. “But music is powerful. So if all they listen to is gangsta rap, then that’s what they’re gonna follow. Dang It Feel Good still gives them a hard beat, but challenges them to think bigger than these streets.”

The Impact

And the single is just the beginning. Paztuh Mike uses his platform to speak about today’s gangsta rap–that much of it is smoke and mirrors. He peels back the curtain on the business so people know that what they see and hear isn’t all that it seems.

“If I get negative reactions to what I’m saying about gangsta music, I go in on the business side,” he says. “I let them know that so much of this stuff is fake, a made-up image to sell records. Very few gangsta rappers have actually done what they say in their music.

“The truth is, gangsta isn’t cool,” Paztuh Mike adds. “It’s never been cool. It doesn’t last.”
