Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

HUMILITY

Most people say things like “I would never do that” and “I will never do this.” But really, when it comes down to it; you do not know what you will actually do until you are in a situation. It’s easy to be humble when you are low. But it can be very hard to diligently walk in humility when you are exalted.

The Bible talks about staying humble and the dangers of pride. In Proverbs 16:18, the Bible says, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Pride says, “I don’t need God, I’m good.” This is a dangerous place to be. Satan himself was puffed up in pride, and wanted to be God. This pride got him cast down to the earth with no chance of repentance. God takes pride seriously, so we must ask the Lord to examine our hearts, to make sure we stay in a spirit of humility.

The trick is staying humble when the Lord exalts you. It’s easier to be humble when everything has been stripped away and you are low. True humility stays humble whether you are on top of the mountain or in the valley. True humility makes you a great leader. Stay humble folks.

Don’t get tied up in the opinions of others, but instead chose to have a good day. Chose to please God, not man!

GOOD DAY

There are so many things in our everyday life we cannot control. Negative mindsets and comments can come on a daily basis from family members, friends, and coworkers. These words can be very rough especially if you are dealing with your own insecurities. A lot of times you cannot control what other people do and how they feel about you. But you can control your thought process and how you choose to feel about it. Do everything you can to look at the good in your life and magnify that each and every day making everyday a good day. At the end of the day, you want to please God, not man anyway.

The truth is, if you are always trying to please people, you will never truly please God. In the Bible, the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:10, “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” In order to truly be servants of Christ, we have to learn how to be okay with disapproval from people. This can be difficult, but it is possible to achieve when your love for God is stronger than your love to be accepted by people.

LEADERSHIP

When you have an idea as a leader, you first need to be able to carry it out yourself so you can work out all the mistakes. If you practice this, you will be more effective at leading people. You need to do first what you expect the people to do later. A manager tells people what to do but a leader says ‘Follow Me’. Leadership takes true action and setting of the example.

Jesus Christ was our best example of leadership that we can follow. Jesus would model how to do something, then have the disciples do it themselves. For example, He first showed His disciples how He baptized before the disciples did it on their own. He also cast out demons, healed the sick, and opened blind eyes as an example to the disciples before they went out and did the same.

Consistently Jesus said, “Follow Me”, approaching people from all walks of life, giving them the opportunity to follow or not. He didn’t sugar coat what people would have to give up in order to follow Him. In fact, he was incredibly honest with the cost of being His disciple. Jesus gave people a choice. Leadership that aims to control will never work, but leadership that aims to empower will be much more successful.

Remember this next time you’re in position of leadership. Learn to set the example first, learn to empower, and see what God will do!
